Wipro implements radio frequency identification (RFID) for Pantaloon

Mumbai: Wipro Infotech today announced that it has successfully implemented Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solution in the Pantaloon's Tarapur warehouse and factory.

The scope of the project started of with Wipro leveraging on its supply chain expertise and identifying the potential areas for RFID implementation in Pantaloon. The application of RFID technology to the warehouse processes of Pantaloon was the ideal starting point in Pantaloon's journey to capture real-time data.

Wipro was involved in architecting the overall solution in line with Pantaloon's business processes and IT landscape. This was followed by the development and deployment of the RFID application based on Oracle 10g middleware along with implementation of the RFID hardware and integration of the same to the existing IT infrastructure of Pantaloon.

The RFID project for Pantaloon delivers on the promise of improved supply chain planning and real time data for quicker decision making.
