Wipro Inaugurates Development Centre in Chengdu, China

Bangalore: Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limitedtoday inaugurated its global delivery centre at Chengdu, China to provide IT & BPO services to its customers.

The Chengdu centre will have secured facilities, labs and infrastructure for customer projects and can grow to provide a capacity of 1,000 seats.

The new centre will broaden Wipro's service capabilities along with its existing presence in Shanghai. The vice province governor of Sichuan province Li Chengyun and the mayor of Chengdu city, Ge Honglin officially inaugurated the centre, jointly with Sambuddha Deb, executive vice president and chief delivery officer, Wipro Technologies.

This centre will extend Wipro's expansive portfolio of IT service to its customer with an initial focus in the first year on testing and enterprise application services for the manufacturing, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) industries, through multilingual services in English, Chinese and Japanese.

Wipro says it opted for Chengdu as a location due to its conducive business environment, talented pool of IT professionals and the city's excellent infrastructure. The centre currently employs over 100 people and the IT major plans on increasing this headcount.

Inaugurating the new centre mayor Ge Honglin said, ''Chengdu is a great outsourcing destination and we are happy that Wipro is inaugurating its centre here today.''
