Bangalore: Wipro Infotech is planning to shift its focus on providing hardware and software solutions and services in view of the highly volatile PC market. A division of the Rs 3,092-crore software company Wipro Ltd, Wipro Infotech has been mainly into selling personal computers and servers so far.

Wipro Infotech has put in place a strategic account management programme to focus on its businesses under the enterprise systems division (ESD) and the professional service division (PSD). ESD provides system integration solutions to scale-up the enterprise with its enterprise servers, storage systems, networking systems and software systems, while PSD provides basic availability services and infrastructure management services to those who want to outsource their IT requirement.

Wipro Infotech has about 4,000 clients, of which about 100 large corporate bodies (including government departments) account for 50 per cent of the business. These will now be placed under its strategic account management programme.

The company has created vertical services for finance and insurance, telecom, media and entertainment, government, manufacturing, IT and IT-enabled services. Each of the 100 top clients has been classified under one of the verticals, which is headed by a senior person, reporting directly to the president of the company.

Wipro Infotech's newly-created business solutions division offers solutions in e-commerce, e-security and business applications. The company has partnered with industry leaders in categories of ERP, CRM and SCM such as SAP, Oracle, Siebel, SalesLogix and i2.

Wipro had earlier merged the erstwhile Wipro Net's corporate ISP business with Wipro Infotech to offer data management services, connectivity services and call-centre services.
