Y C Deveshwar named 'business person of the year' by UK government

Y C Deveshwar, chairman, ITC Limited, has been named the 'businessperson of the year 2006' by UK Trade & Investment, the UK's overseas businesses promotion body.

Deveshwar received the award from Prince Andrew, duke of York, at the India Business Awards ceremony in Mumbai. The award acknowledges Deveshwar's significant role in promoting Indo-British business relations. As the president of CII, he was a key figure behind the success of Tony Blair's EU-India summit in 2005.
