Yahoo! India announces new appointments

New Delhi: Yahoo! India has appointed Vishal Maheshwari as the head of Yahoo! India Mobile. Maheshwari was formerly head of customer asset management at BPL Mobile Communications and has been associated with financial services and FMCG sectors.

Rishi Behal, former regional manager, sales, has been promoted to director, strategic alliances and search. He will be responsible for health , travel and gaming among other areas while Pearl Uppal, who is based in Delhi, will head the national sales function of Yahoo! India, as sales director. She will be responsible for increasing the online advertising client base and head the sales business unit, which includes sales production and ad operations.

Announcing the new appointments Neville Taraporewalla, country manager, Yahoo! India, said, "Yahoo! India has seen aggressive growth in the last couple of years and this goes beyond just increase in online advertising revenues. Our mobile content business is also on the rise, besides we see a great potential in the search business. The new appointments signify our continued investment in people, resources and technology in India and also throw light on Yahoo's trust in local talent to power its business."
