Yamaha launches 998 cc FZ1 motorcycle

In a bid to target the hi-end motor cycle segment, Yamaha yesterday launched its 998cc bike, FZ1, priced Rs8.70 lakh.

The bike major also launched its 153cc SZ-R bike carrying a price tag of Rs55,500.

The compact design FZ1 comes with a 998cc DOHC 20-valve engine that delivers a powerful mid-range punch coupled with massive top-end power.

The  SZ-R targeted at the sports oriented customer. The bike features a front disc brake, tachometer with a tank protector fitted to the fuel tank to make it appear even larger.

After the successful launch of our superbikes and 150cc bikes in the domestic market in the last three years, we are adding two new bikes to our portfolio corroborating Yamaha's continued commitment to provide world-class products to its consumers,'' said India Yamaha Motor CEO and managing director Hiroyuki Suzuki.

The company now has on offer three high-end superbikes in the domestic market - VMAX, MT01 and YZF-R1.
