CAT to become year round affair by 2012

26 Nov 2010

With the successful completion of the second online CAT 2010 examinations this week, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) say that CAT aspirants will be able to take the test at any time round-the-year from 2012.

The decision was taken by the Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) who organise the exam and their US-based partner, Prometric India, after the successful completion of CAT 2010.

According to unnamed sources, quoted by DNA newspaper, the linear-on-the-fly testing method, (as the round-the-year exam pattern is termed) would be implemented by 2012.

However, the actual deployment of the test application for the test would happen only after organisers have with them a bank of psychometrically tested assessment questions which IIMs and Prometric hope to be ready with by 2012.

The upbeat mood was very much in evidence as the organisers.

held a joint celebratory session to mark the successful completion of CAT 2010 in New Delhi yesterday.

Soumitra Roy, managing director, Prometric said they were happy that this year's administration of the test met, rather even exceeded, global standards.
