Under the programme, 'Innovation and Leadership Beyond Borders', the participating executives would be in for international business education and professional development experiences at each of the three institutions.

They would also be offered opportunities to network and participate in group activities. On completion of the respective modules they will receive certificates from each of the institutions and upon the successful completion of the programme, a joint certificate from all three institutions would be awarded. In the joint programme IIM-B would focus on services, Smith School on innovation and creativity and Zhejiang on manufacturing.

According to an IIMB official it was not just about the business aspect, rather the programme would also expose management executives to learn the social and government practices in other innovation hubs such as Hangzhou which has the highest concentration of entrepreneurs in China and Washington.

The first phase of the programme in Maryland, would focus on managerial and creative innovation, followed by training in manufacturing in the second week and innovation in Zhejiang in September.
