Gadkari offers to help with Thane-Mumbai transport projects

Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari has assured the centre's go-ahead for the proposed water transport projects in Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to be undertaken by the Maharashtra Maritime Board and the Bombay Port Trust.

Reports quoting the Thane unit of the Shiv Sena on Friday said Gadkari gave the assurance to a delegation comprising senior BJP leaders Sanjay Kelkar, and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, district Shiv sena Chief Ekanth Shinde and others on Thursday.

During the meeting, which also discussed various transport projects and other issues, the minister is reported to have assured the delegation that he would extend support for getting environment clearance for the Thane-Kalyan parallel road and Dombivili-Mankoli bridges.

Gadkari also ordered the tender for the construction of an eight-lane road between Kharigaon to Kalyan junction toll plaza and also for a four-lane road between Kalyan and Murbad road, the reports said.

The delegate also met the minister of state for railways Manoj Sinha.
