Union minister of railways, communication and electronics and IT  Ashwini Vishnaw said the unit is expected to create up to 5,000 direct jobs and 15.000 indirect jobs over the next five years. India Semiconductor Mission, the Gujarat government and Micron are working in close association with academia to train about 10,000 engineers, he added.

More than 30 ancillary industries engaged in the production and distribution of gasses, chemicals, equipment, substrate manufacturing and other such industries are in various phases of discussion for setting up facilities in Gujarat, the minister pointed out.
