Office of drugs controller suspends 53 licenses in Kashmir valley

The food and drugs controller has suspended 53 licences in Kashmir valley.

The move is aimed at ensuring proper implementation of the provision of Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

According to media reports, various inspection teams constituted by deputy controller of Drugs and Food Control conducted 245 extensive inspection drives in various districts of the Kashmir valley.

In addition to suspending 53 licenses of different violators, the team also served notices on four drug stores for violating the Act.

The deputy controller Drugs and Food Control  Kashmir had instructed all chemists to refrain from dispensing drugs without the prescription of a registered medical practitioner and maintain prescription registers.

Consumers have been requested to demand cash memos at the time of purchase of medicines.
