Videocon forays into Android market with Zeus

Videocon Mobile Phones today announced its entry in the Android phone market, by launching the Zeus model in the Indian market. The company also rolled out four new models to expand its offerings in the country.

Videocon Zeus is Android  2.1 phone with a 3.2 inch multi-touch screen, 600 MHz Qualcomm microprocessor, 5MP camera, 24FPS video recording, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and push mail technology.

The phone comes with a pre-bundled 8GB card, internal memory of 512KB, which is expandable up to 32 GB. Zeus supports multiple Bluetooth profiles -- A2DP, GAP, HFP, HSP.

Priced at Rs12,900, Zeus users can access to over 70,000 applications in the Android marketplace.

"The entry into the Android space extends our offering, thus placing us better amongst the leading Indian players, and we are keen to enhance our penetration across the markets,'' said  Anil Khera, CEO, Videocon Mobile Phones.

The other models include the Videocon V1410 that comes with an integrated laser pointer, features a VGA camera with video recorder and player, Bluetooth, 1.8'' TFT screen, dual tone body colour and micro-SD card support up to 4GB.

V1603 is a dual-battery phone, which features the dual T-Flash card, 2MP camera; V 1475 is a QWERTY phone available in four shades while V1606 comes with a  2MP HD camera, dual loud speakers and TFT screen.
