Business award for Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan

26 Feb 2009

It was an unusual awards night far removed from the film world, for Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan, who was felicitated with the 'Brand Ambassador of the Year' award at the recently held NDTV Profit Car & Bike Awards 2009, for his long-standing asociation with Cheverolet in India.

Khan's association with General Motors' flagship brand Chevrolet kicked off in late 2005 with the launch of the Chevrolet Aveo. Ever since, he has been an integral part of all brand communication and campaigns on the Chevrolet Aveo and U-VA range of cars.

Speaking on the occasion, Khan said, ''My association with Chevrolet goes back many years to when my mother, during her cinema career, would travel in a Chevy Impala. I feel privileged to be associated with a truly iconic automobile brand worldwide, Chevrolet, and look forward to an exciting role ahead and strengthening my relationship with the brand.''

Khan, who has made a mark in the Indian film industry with his power packed performances over the past few years, lends credibility to the brand as he effortlessly embodies the dimensions of performance, aesthetics, substance and style plus class and exuberance that are in sync with the inherent qualities of the brand Chevrolet.

Besides the two cars that Saif promotes for General Motors India, the company also has other cars like Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet SR-V, Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Tavera on Indian roads.

The company operates two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities at Talegaon in Maharashtra and Halol in Gujarat
