Cyrus Mistry, ex SBI chief OP Bhatt join TCS board

The board of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said that it had appointed former SBI group chairman O P Bhatt and Tata Sons deputy chairman Cyrus Mistry to the board of directors of the Company with effect from 2 April 2012.

With the addition of these two directors, the total board strength of  TCS is now 14 directors of which seven including Bhatt are independent directors.

Bhatt is a national science talent scholar with a graduate degree in physics and a post-graduate gold medallist  in English. He has also served as the government's nominee on the India-US CEO Forum; Indo-French CEO Forum and Indo Russia CEO Forum, forging links with a cross section of world's business leaders.

Mistry, a civil engineering graduate from Imperial College, UK, and has a MSc in management from London Business School. He joined the board of Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Limited as director in 1991 and was appointed managing director, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, in 1994.

In November 2011, he joined the board of Tata Sons Limited and was appointed deputy chairman in November 2011. He is also director of Tata Industries Limited, Tata Power Company Limited and Tata Teleservices Limited.
