ISRO chairman,G Madhavan Nair, selected for KR Narayanan award

Kochi: ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair has been selected for this year's KR Narayanan award for his contributions to Indian science, and also for the successful launch of Chandrayaan-I, India's first unmanned mission to moon. The announcement was made by award jury committee chairman and former judge, K Narayanana Kurup and foundation chairman Uzhavoor Vijayan.
The award, instituted by the KR Narayanan foundation in memory of the former president, comprises a certificate, statuette and ''ponnada''. It will be presented to Madhavan Nair at a function to be held at Thiruvananthapuram in the first week of January, foundation vice chairman VP Sajeendran and general secretary Eby J Jose said.
Kerala assembly speaker K Radhakrishnan was the recipient of the award last year.
The foundation also proposes to install a statue of Narayanan at Thiruvananthapuram and set up a research centre. A documentary will also be prepared.
