Jayant Dua appointed Birla Sun Life's new MD

Mumbai: Mumbai-headquartered Birla Sun Life Insurance Company today announced the appointment of Jayant Dua as managing director, with effect from 1 July  2010.

Prior to this appointment, Dua was president and CEO, Aditya Birla Insulators.

Dua has diverse work experience across various business areas of sales, marketing, IT and strategy. He has been associated with the Aditya Birla Group for the last 14 years.

Prior to his appointment with the insulators business, Dua spent close to a decade in the groups' cement business in roles as diverse as marketing, IT and strategy.

Ajay Srinivasan, chief executive, financial services, Aditya Birla Group, who had in the interim taken additional charge as managing director, BSLI, said, ''Jayant, with his diverse exposure across various facets of business will play a key role in leading Birla Sun Life Insurance towards achieving its goals.''

Dua is a chemical engineer from IIT Delhi and an MBA from IMI, Delhi and has recently completed an Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Harvard Business School.

Birla Sun Life Insurance Company Limited, is a joint venture between the Aditya Birla Group, and Canada's Sun Life Financial Inc, and has two million policy accounts.
