Lord Dholakia, Saeed Jaffrey, Kartar Lalvani and Sir Noon get ''Pride of India'' awards

London: Lord Navnit Dholakia, deputy leader of Liberal Democrats Party in Britain''s House of Lords, industrialist Gulam Noon and veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey have been felicitated with the ''Pride of India'' awards for their outstanding contributions to the Indian community in the UK.

The Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Kamlesh Sharma, presented the awards, which have been instituted by the London-based India International Foundation. These are the first Annual Awards of the Foundation.

Saeed Jaffrey, veteran stage and character actor in Indian, British, American and crossover cinema received the award in ''Arts and Culture''. Dr Kartar Lalvani, founder of Britain''s first specialist vitamin supplement company, Vitabiotics, received the award for distinction in the scienc and Sir Gulam Noon, founder-chairman of readymade food Noon products, was chosen in the field of business and industry.
