Rajan Mittal appointed as President of ICC India

The International Chamber of Commerce India (ICC India), the Indian Affiliate of the Paris-based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), has appointed Rajan Bharti Mittal as its president. ICC is a global business organisation with presence in over 90 countries.

Mittal is the vice chairman and managing director of Bharti Enterprises – a company with interests in telecom, financial services, retail, manufacturing, realty and agri-business. He is also the Chairman of the Bharti-WalMart joint venture in India.

Bharti Airtel, flagship company of Bharti Enterprises, is a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa. Bharti has joint ventures with several global leaders including Wal-Mart for wholesale operations, AXA for financial services and Del Monte for agri and food processing business.

Born in 1960, Mittal joined Bharti Enterprises after graduating from Punjab University. An alumnus of Harvard Business School, he is actively involved in overseeing the activities of the group at the corporate level.

With his rich experience in the marketing function, he is also involved in many of the new business ventures of the Group.

Mittal was honored with the ''Indian Business Leader of the Year Award 2011'' by Horasis, The Global Visions Community and has also been awarded the ''Leonardo International Prize 2012'' by Comitato Leonardo, the Italian Quality Committee.

Mittal is on the Board of Trustees of Brookings Institution, a think tank.

In the past, he has been the President of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for 2010-2011 and is currently a Member of its Executive & Steering Committees.
