Rajnikanth set to launch political party on New Year Day

Southern megastar Rajnikant on Thursday announced plans to launch his political party on 31 December, which, he said, will be a new force for change to save the country from from the rot it has fallen into. 

The time has come, 'Let's change everything, it's now or never,” he said, ending years of uncertainty over his entry in active politics.
Rajnikanth made the decision to float his political party at a meeting with district secretaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram, a political group considered to be an extension of his fan club, on Monday.
"A political party will be launched in January; Announcement regarding it will be made on December 31st," Rajnikanth said in a tweet.
"In the upcoming assembly elections, we will definitely win the assembly elections and give an honest, transparent, corruption free and spiritual politics without any difference to any religion or caste," he said.
Talking to reporters, Rajinikanth said, "In 2017, I said I'll start a political party and contest in 2021 assembly elections. Doctors advised not to go to the ground for the trip before starting a political party because its important for me visit ground before starting a political party. This corona is a big problem. When I was bedridden, I got my life back because of your prayer. Now I don't mind even if I die. If I win, the victory is all yours."
Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu are due next year. Speculations were rife regarding an announcement from the actor after he met members and district secretaries of Rajini Makkal Mandram, a political group considered to be an extension of his fan club, on Monday. 
Rajinikanth had announced plans to enter politics in December 2017. But plans fizzled out partly due to health reasons and also for want of right candidates for leadership roles.
