Stephanie Pope is set to assume the role of Chief Operating Officer at Boeing

Boeing is all set to appoint Stephanie Pope, a seasoned company veteran and current head of Boeing Global Services, as its Chief Operating Officer (COO), signaling her as the probable successor to Chief Executive David Calhoun, as reported by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, 10 December 2023.

The anticipated announcement of Pope’s appointment to the COO position is expected as early as Monday, 11 December 2023. While Calhoun is likely to retain his position as CEO for at least another year, the move positions Pope for a significant leadership role within the company.

Boeing Global Services, currently led by Pope, plays a pivotal role in providing parts and engineering services for both airlines and the military, contributing to Boeing’s broader operations.

Stephanie Pope, with a two-decade history at Boeing, holds the title of Executive Vice President within the company. Apart from her current role as President and CEO of Boeing Global Services, her extensive experience within the organization positions her as a key figure for future leadership.

In a noteworthy move in February 2023, Boeing acknowledged Calhoun’s contributions by awarding him an incentive valued at approximately $5.29 million. This action suggests that the current board of directors may not be actively seeking a replacement for Calhoun until at least the mid-2020s.

It is worth noting that Boeing extended the required retirement age of 65 to 70 in April 2021, specifically to enable Calhoun to continue serving in the top job. These strategic decisions underscore the company’s commitment to maintaining stability and experienced leadership during critical periods.
