The Washington Post appoints Elizabeth Spayd and Raju Narisetti as managing editors

Elizabeth Spayd and Raju Narisetti have been appointed as Managing Editors of The Washington Post. Narisetti will oversee departments including style, The Washington Post Magazine, Weekend, video, design and photography. Narisetti will be responsible for washingtonpost.com, and  day-to-day operations and guiding strategy, and innovation in technology and interactivity.

Narisetti, 42, was founding editor of Hindustan Times's business newspaper Mint, launched in February 2007.

In 2006, Narisetti became editor of The Wall Street Journal's  European news operations as well as a deputy managing editor of The Wall Street Journal in the US, where he also held overall responsibility for European, Middle East and Africa coverage.

Prior to that he was deputy national news editor of the WSJ, where he started as a reporter.

Spayd, 50, joined The Washington Post in April 1988, and has been editor of washingtonpost.com since 2007. Now she will look after the gathering, editing and production of news.
