Zuckerberg to develop AI in personal challenge for 2016

Mark Zuckerberg wants to develop AI – artificial intelligence, as his personal challenge for 2016.

The Facebook founder told followers on Facebook today that he wanted to start working with AI - artificial intelligence - to help him run his home life.

In a post on his page, Zuckerberg likened his vision of AI to ''Jarvis in Iron Man''.

''My personal challenge for 2016 is to build a simple AI to run my home and help me with my work. You can think of it kind of like Jarvis in Iron Man,'' he wrote.

''I'm going to start by exploring what technology is already out there. Then I'll start teaching it to understand my voice to control everything in our home - music, lights, temperature and so on.''

He wants his creation to be able to have facial recognition installed so it could let his friends in.

''I'll teach it to let friends in by looking at their faces when they ring the doorbell. I'll teach it to let me know if anything is going on in Max's room that I need to check on when I'm not with her,'' he wrote.

 ''On the work side, it'll help me visualise data in VR to help me build better services and lead my organisations more effectively.''

"This should be a fun intellectual challenge to code this for myself," Zuckerberg wrote. "I'm looking forward to sharing what I learn over the course of the year."

Among other challenges Zuckerberg had taken in recent years were reading two books every month and learning Mandarin.

''Every year, I take on a personal challenge to learn new things and grow outside my work at Facebook, he wrote.''

Zuckerberg, last month announced, he planned to give away 99 per cent of his Facebook stake.

However, his philanthropic venture, launched to celebrate the birth of his daughter, was criticised by detractors who claimed it could provide a way for the founder to avoid paying tax on the sale of his shares.
