Ministry to probe Kingfisher’s Provident Fund records

The labour ministry will soon launch an investigation to check whether there were any anomalies in the provident fund (PF) contributions made by Kingfisher Airlines for its employees, Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said on Sunday.
"We have not examined the issue so far. I will look into that. We will examine (all the issues)," he said.
An open letter written by women employees of Kingfisher Airlines recently alleged that the company did not pay salaries, but kept depositing PF due to fear of action from the authorities.
Many former employees of Kingfisher Airlines are trying to come under one banner and start a legal battle for their dues, according to a newspaper report today.
"We will approach the Supreme Court seeking justice. We have received positive responses from over 900 former employees," Former Kingfisher Airlines pilot Captain Kedar Wagh was quoted as saying.
The defunct airline owes Wagh Rs45 lakh towards his salary and related dues.
''Notice issued to the company for levy of penal damages (INR 3,34,016) and interest due (INR 3,55,678) for belated remittances for certain months and payment of short remittances of INR 71,910. Total liability in the notice is INR 7,61,604,'' the EPFO has been quoted as saying.
The last inspection of the company by EPFO has revealed that it had paid the EPF and other dues on salary payable up to December 2012.
