23 Jun 2011
India won its second gold at Cannes Lions 2011 courtesy Delhi-based agency Out of the Box, which won the medal for its brochure design for pre-school chain Mothers Pride.
Besides the gold medal, the Indian contingent won four more medals in the category; Mudra Communications winning two silver medals and a bronze and TBWA India opening its tally with a silver Lion.
Out of the Box won in the 'Publications and Business Communications' sub-category. For the brochure, the agency had created illustrations of flowers in bloom, which on closer inspection turns out to be children dancing, playing, taking part in festivals.
TBWA\India won the silver Lion in the 'Graphic Design and Design Crafts' sub-category for their calendar entry 'Immigration Stamps' for Yatra Online.
Mudra Communications won two silver Lions for its entries 'Dwarf Depressions' for Loving Hands Ministry and 'Frozen foods' for Electrolux. The agency took home the bronze for its work on Ayurveda Research Labs, titled 'Disappearing Discounts.'
The Grand Prix in Design Lions went to USA's Digital Kitchen for its campaign, 'The Cosmopolitan Digital Experience' for The Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas. The agency had turned a design element into a brand experience by using a 12 ft digital art illustration as canvas in the entire building.
