02 Mar 2009
MRM Worldwide, the digital arm of McCann Worldgroup, plans to acquire stakes in small firms involved in digital marketing, including digital design studios, search marketing and mobile marketing entities to concentrate on its interactive marketing capabilities in India.
Mark Cripps, regional digital director, APAC, McCann Worldgroup said that the grouop plans to acquire stakes in search marketing and mobile marketing firms in 2009. MRM plans to acquire many small companies instead of acquiring a few big ones.
The agency is looking out for firms which offer search engine optimisation (SEO) solutions and those that execute pay-for-performance campaigns. In the mobile marketing space, it is looking for firms which can help it to deliver mobile marketing campaigns and provide analytics and reports related to mobile campaigns. Firms developing mobile applications and widgets are also on its radar.
The agency has already shortlisted web based creative agencies and is in the process of finalising a list of search and mobile marketing companies.
MRM has already started the acquisition process from this month and will invite the shortlisted firms at its Mumbai, Bengaluru and New Delhi offices to finalise matters.
The agency is expecting significant revenue from its Indian operations. Cripps adds that MRM Worldwide saw a tremendous growth in China in the last three years and it is expecting a similar growth in India in the next two years in terms of revenue and client acquisition.
The agency aims to concentrate on automobile, telecom and financial services advertisers in India in the coming months.
