Sharad Haskar shortlisted in Sony World Photography Awards

Sharad Haksar, the man behind 1pointsize, the Chennai-based creative outfit has been shortlised in the advertising sub-category under the Commercial category for the Sony World Photography Awards shortlist.
The Sony World Photography Awards is a global competition, which invites entries from all countries, from Argentina to Zimbabwe. Over 60,000 photograph entries were submitted this year from 139 countries.
Haksar's shortlisted work is part of the network campaign for Reliance Mobile. The campaign was conceived by Cartwheel Communications.
He is also only Indian among the nominees and will have to battle it out with nine other photographers in the category.
The awards will be held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on Thursday, 16 April, 2009. A winner will be declared in each of the 12 categories and an overall winner among all the categories will also be announced.
The submitted work will be judged in three categories. These are photojournalism and documentary, where the sub-categories are current affairs, sport, contemporary issues and arts and entertainment; commercial, whose sub-categories are advertising, fashion and music; and fine art, where the sub-categories are portraiture, conceptual and constructed, natural history, landscape and architecture.
There are 12 categories in all.
