Monster.com to tap rural areas
12 Aug 2009
Monster.com has tied up with ITC e-Choupal to launch a job website named Rozgarduniya.com, in an attempt to tap the job market in the rural areas of India.
Targetting youth, the job site will offer jobs across various categories such as teaching, automobile, textile, publishing and maintenance.
The portal will be made accessible through the internet kiosks set up by ITC e-Choupal to disseminate important information across 40,000 villages in nine states.
Currently, the site is available in Hindi and English languages only and its services are offered in villages across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Later, the services will be extended to other regional languages and cater to more states.
The service will be free for job seekers. Monster.com and ITC will mobilise teams in rural areas to create awareness about the site. There are plans to use posters and job fairs to spread the word about the utility of the site.
Apart from extending its recruitment service on the Internet, Monster.com has also started using the direct to home platform to make its service available to users who do not access the Internet. The company has recently tied up with Dish TV to offer its job search service, MonsterJobs Active.
