Nikon uses Commonwealth Games to target professional shutterbugs

Nikon India has set up a service center for press photographers at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Delhi. The service center, located at the main press center at Pragati Maidan, offers free servicing to the photographers. Minor repairs are also done for free at these centers.
Hiroshi Takashina, managing director, Nikon India, said, "It is a small initiative towards supporting the press photographers as well as extending services to our customers. Through this initiative we are giving our customers an opportunity to try new Nikon products and choose the right one for them."
Nikon is also loaning out its high end D-SLR cameras like the D300s, D700, D3S and D3X with variety of NIKKOR lenses to capture all the memorable moments of the Commonwealth Games 2010.
The company said in a statement that on an average 100 accredited photographers utilise the benefits of the service facility daily.
Nikon had launched an entry level SLR D3100 camera equipped with a new CMOS image sensor last week.
Nikon India distributes, markets and services the complete range of Nikon imaging products, including the Nikon D-SLR as well as its compact camera, the Nikon Coolpix and a range of NIKKOR lenses. Nikon India has offices in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
Its distribution network consists of eighteen authorised service centers with three more are in pipeline for the year 2010-2011. Besides it has also set up D-SLR and Coolpix zones in the country, which showcase its products.
