Retail chain Niligiris opens 100th store in Chennai

Nilgiris, the food and grocery retail format with a strong presence in South India, will open its 100th store in Chennai today.
"The key differentiator in the business is the strong private label range of Nilgiris and the excellent customer service offered by our franchisees at the stores,'' said Murali Krishnan, COO, for the business.
The Nilgiris brand is known for its ''fresh'' products like dairy and bakery, which it sources from its manufacturing facilities in Bangalore. But the key footfall driver to the stores is the range of staples sourced by the outlet, the company said in a release.
Nilgiris is a major retailer in states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for many years now. Earlier this year, it had extended its footprint to markets of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala as well.
