Big CBS Networks has announced the launch of Big CBS Prime, the English general entertainment channel, the first from its bouquet of three offerings. The channel will debut on TV screens in November, after Diwali.
The joint venture between Reliance Broadcast Network and CBS Studios International had announced the roll out of three channels in the country to start with.
The other two channels, Big CBS Spark, an English youth channel, and Big CBS Love, targeted towards women, will be launched in December and February respectively.
Big CBS Prime, aimed towards audiences in the age group of 18-34 years, will feature programs from CBS' programme library, which includes new seasons of NCIS, Survivor, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Rachael Ray, Frasier, The Insider and Entertainment Tonight.
The GEC will be a paid channel and will be distributed on digital and analog platforms. Big CBS Networks has entered into a partnership with Digicable, cable TV distributor catering to almost nine million households, to distribute the three channels on its platform.
On the DTH front, it has a tie-up with Reliance Big TV. There are more tie-ups in the offing, as the network aims to reach up to 80 per cent of Indian households, said Aparnaa Pande, business head, Big CBS Networks.
