Accenture to increase workforce by 8,000 by end-2010

Global technology and consultancy giant Accenture said on Monday that it would up its India workforce by 8,000 by the end of next year. With this, the company would see its employee base increase to 50,000.
According to Accenture chairman and chief executive officer, William D Green who was speaking to PTI on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit, the company strength which was 42,000 at present would increase to 50,000 by the end of 2010.
Green added that the company would continue to focus especially in the areas of analytics in India.
He said the company believed analytics would emerge as an important trend for which customers would come to Accenture. He added that India would be a great place of the company as it has some core centres of excellence in the analytics space in the country.
He said Accenture with its focus in India on analytics would help clients convert information into insights for better yields.
Accenture with annual revenue of $21.58 billion for fiscal 2009 would sharpen its focus on clients in pharmaceutical, telecom and energy in the country.
