Air India to launch additional service for Pune
10 Oct 2011
State-owned Air India (AI) will launch a six-days-a-week, Delhi-Pune-Delhi service from 30 October this year. The service will not operate on Fridays.
The flight will originate from Delhi at 5.15am and reach Pune at 7.05am. The return flight would depart at 7.45am and arrive at Delhi at 9.45am.
The new service would be operated with an A320, and offer 20 business class and 125 economy class seats. It will also have a capacity to carry five tonnes of cargo, Air India officials said.
This will be Air India's second new service in that sector, with the existing daily service arriving at Pune at 6pm and departing for Delhi at 6.40pm.
AI also operates services to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Dubai from Pune.
Apparently, the new service will cater to growing demand from frequent travellers from Pune, including government servants and officials of corporate houses for an early morning service which would allow them to return from Delhi the same day after completing their work.
