Beer drinkers in the US are suing Anheuser-Busch, over, alleged watering down of the alcohol content in  its beer.

The lawsuits individually seeking $5 million in damages at the minimum have been, filed in Pennsylvania, California and other states, claiming consumers had been cheated out of the alcohol content stated on beer labels.

Terming the claims as ''completely false'' Anheuser-Busch InBev said in a statement, "our beers are in full compliance with labelling laws".

The lawsuits have been filed on the basis of information from former employees at the multinational's breweries.

According to lead lawyer Josh Boxer, the information came from former employees at Anheuser-Busch, who claimed that as a matter of corporate practice, all of the company's products mentioned (in the lawsuit) were watered down.

According to the complaint, Anheuser-Busch employed some of most sophisticated process control technology in the world to precisely monitor the alcohol content at the final stages of production, and then added additional water to produce beers with significantly lower alcohol contents than represented on the labels.
