Apple, the maker of iPods, iPhones and iPads is reportedly in talks to buy Chinese software maker Handseeing Information Technology Co., Ltd., a deal if through, would be its first acquisition of a Chinese company.
China's Xinhua News Agency today reported that Apple, rated by Forbes last month as the world's most valuable brand, is in takeover talks with Chengdu, Sichuan Province-based Handseeing, an Internet game developer.
Citing an executive of Handseeing, the paper said that both companies were negotiating the acquisition price and other details.
When the paper asked to comment on earlier reports of a $150-million price evaluation of the company, the executive said that the price negotiation is central to the takeover talks.
Founded in 2005, Handseeing is an online game developer and has research and development centres in Chengdu and Suzhou. In 2009, Green Pine Capital Partners Co invested 50 million yuan in the company.
Its main technology is RIA high-end Application Engine, which runs RIA online games in China.
