New Delhi: French software firm Dassault Systemes (DS) yesterday signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Noida-based auto component manufacturing and designing firm, Argentum Engineering Design (AED) to provide powertrain solutions to the automotive and other industries in India. Under the agreement, Dassault Systemes will license its 3D design and product lifestyle management (PLM) software to AED's centre at Greater Noida.
The PLM software, built on the computer-aided design concept, provides a 3D vision of the life cycle of a product from conception to designing to manufacturing and delivery.
''We are defining the next level of solutions where the media of communication will be 3D, which will help enable testing a car's ergonomics before it is built,'' says Christian Nardin, president of Dassault Systemes Asia. ''In the changing global economy, India is a major player in the auto industry. We are extending our skills and expertise to propel AED to enable it, reach greater heights and the country can become the engineering centre of the world.''
AED is a part of the Argentum Motors Group, which bought the Surajpur plant of the defunct Korean carmaker Daewoo for Rs 800 crore in 2007.
