Ashok Leyland in hythane technology pact with Australian company

Mumbai: Ashok Leyland Ltd (ALL) has entered into a technology agreement with Brehon Energy Plc of Australia for technology to use hythane gas in its compressed natural gas (CNG) engines.
ALL proposes to use the technology to operate its 6-cylinder 'H' series engines to be run on hythane - a blend of hydrogen and natural gas - which cuts emissions further than CNG, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.
The use of CNG in vehicles is expected to grow in line with the Indian government's plans to make available CNG in more parts of the country," the company said.
The Australian company has acquired and developed patents, technology and know-how for the production, storage, dispensing and use of hythane, a prepared blend of hydrogen and natural gas that dramatically reduces emissions, said Ashok Leyland.
The financial details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
