Ashok Leyland to supply 1,200 trucks to VRL Logistics

Karnataka-based VRL Logistics Ltd (VRL) has placed an order for1,200 trucks with Ashok Leyland, flagship company of the Hinduja Group.
The order, worth Rs350 crore, is for 600 each of models '3123' and '3723' trucks, which come with advanced features.
''VRL Logistics and Ashok Leyland have a long-standing relationship which surpasses the usual customer, vendor relationship. VRL has, over the years, not only been our customers but have also worked very closely with us in developing new products which suit various customers,'' Vinod Dasari, MD at Ashok Leyland said.
The trucks will come fitted with the latest in features and technologies that will help VRL to have a reduced maintenance time, reduce stop overs, have better efficiency resulting in better uptime and increased profitability, the company said in a statement.
''Though we are associated with multiple commercial vehicle manufacturers, 80 per cent of our existing fleet is procured from Ashok Leyland. We have a long standing mutually beneficial business association with Ashok Leyland and acknowledge their reliability, timely technological advancements and extremely pro-active after sale service. We also appreciate their personalized attention on all our technical queries and wish to specifically put our appreciation on record with regard to their interaction with even the smallest of their customers which is reflective of their business culture,'' Vijay Sankeshwar, chairman and managing director, VRL, said.
