Bajaj Auto motorcycle sales up 52 per cent in October 2009

Bajaj Auto motorcycle sales surged 52 per cent in October 2009 despite several supply constraints. The growth has been led by 55,413 Pulsars and 95,139 Discovers which ensured that 60 per cent Bajaj motorcycles sold constituted the more 'profitable and sportier' Pulsar and Discover brands.

Total two-wheeler sales rose 51 per cent to 249,974 units in October 2009 as compared to 165,477 units in October 2008 and total of two wheeler and three wheeler sales jumped 46 per cent to 280,455 units in October 2009 compared to 191,840 units in October 2008.

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R launched on 7 October under exclusive arrangement with Bajaj Probiking has received a very encouraging response with 127 motorcycles sold in October 2009.

Commercial vehicle sales suffered on production constraints even as the new RE600 goods carrier sold 721 units in October 2009 which was its first full month of sales.

The October 2009 export figures at 84,012 units are the highest ever that Bajaj Auto has achieved and are 11.88 per cent higher than the 75,092 units of a year ago.
