Bajaj Auto's net profit jumps 20 per cent to 711 crore

Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) reported a 20.48 per cent jump in standalone net profit for the first quarter ended June 30 to Rs 711.06 crore, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker said in a statement.

BAL posted a net profit of Rs 590.15 crore for the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

Standalone net sales increased 22.73 per cent during the period under review at Rs 4,586.91 crore, compared to Rs 3,737.29 crore in the same period a year ago.

Motorcycle sales during the first quarter of this fiscal  grew 16 per cent  at 9,63,051 units, as against 8,28,391 units in the same period a year ago.

Motorcyles sales recorded this June was the highest ever recorded for the month of June so far. Bigger and sportier Pulsar and Discover brands contributed 66 per cent of motorcycle sales.

Pulsar sales averaged 75,000 units and ''Discover '' sales  averaged 135,000 per month while '' Discover 125'' sales recorded 100,000 units for the first quarter.
