Chennai: Eye care major Bausch & Lomb has launched its latest vision correction technology Zyoptix 100. The new technology enables quicker laser eye surgery than the conventional laser operations as it incorporates the iris recognition systems.
Zyoptix-100 maps the eye accurately to facilitate easy corrections that are not only accurate but also customised to each individual eye. The iris recognition technology captures the iris image of each patient''s eye, transforms the iris structures into a unique, digital key and stores this information along with the other diagnostic data. This ensures that the correct eye is treated each time, and, in the case of a disparity, will not allow the procedure to go ahead. The probability that two different eyes are identified as a match is 1 in 3,493,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Bausch & Lomb has sold the technology to the city based Reya Zyoptix-100 Laser Vision Centre.
