Bayer CropScience halts work at Ankleshwar unit

Bayer CropScience said on Friday it has suspended manufacturing activities at its unit in Ankleshwar, Gujarat after a fire broke out at the site on 11 March.
In a press release issued today, Bayer CropScience said it has been asked by the authorities to halt manufacturing activities at its Ankleshwar unit.
The closure order is subsequent to a fire that broke out at a storage tank on site on 11 March 2010, the release said.
Bayer CropScience said it has suspended manufacturing at the site and that the company is working closely with the local authorities.
It expects to resume normal production as early as feasible.
Bayer CropScience said it has sufficient stocks of key products manufactured at Ankleshwar so that no major
interruption of product supply to its customers is foreseen at this time.
