Bharti ties up with Russian telecom major

New Delhi: Mobile services provider Bharti Airtel and Russian state-owned national long-distance telecommunications operator Rostelecom have signed a bilateral agreement to directly route ISD traffic to significantly improve the quality of voice calls.
The arrangement is expected to increase traffic capacity between Russia and India, as well as to boost the quality of international telephone connection with India.
The agreement on ILD calls between India and Russia would be via the direct interconnect established by the two companies between them. The interconnection will improve the quality of voice termination between the two countries and roaming for mobile customers.
Rostelecom owns and operates a nationwide modern backbone network enabling the provision of telecommunications services across the entire Russian federation and since 1 January, 2006, it has been providing fixed line domestic (DLD) and international (ILD) long-distance services to end-customers all over the country.
Rostelecom acts as a carrier in all the regions of Russia, interconnecting all local public operators networks into a single national network for long-distance service. It has established direct international connections with more than 100 operators in 72 countries.
