BlackBerry launches Z10 handset in India at Rs43,490

BlackBerry has launched the BlackBerry Z10 handset in India with a price tag of Rs43,490, following its global launch in January. The handset runs on the company's new operating system (OS) BlackBerry10 (BB10) and would be followed by the immediate launch of Q10 and range of phones running on BB10.

With BlackBerry 10, every feature, every gesture, and every detail is designed to keep you moving,'' said Sunil Dutt, managing director for India at BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry 10 platform features modern design and a gesture-based interface,  designed to support, learn, and adapt to the way a user works.

The touch-screen phone features a 1.5 GHz dual core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and an expandable memory card of up to 64GB.

It includes high density pixel and screen technology to display clear, sharp images. It features a micro HDMI out port for presentations, and advanced sensors such near field communications to support mobile payments and the exchange of information with a tap of the smartphone, and comes with a removable battery.

A predictive text, BlackBerry Messenger with voice calling, an advanced camera feature cvalled Time Shift, Remember for memos and tasks, and BlackBerry World storefront which has over 70,000 applications are among other features.

It supports content in eight Indian languages – Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Devanagiri (Hindi), Gurmukhi (Punjabi), Gujarati, and Bengali – and third-party solutions for Indian language input.

The Z10 will be available in over 2,000 retail outlets across 50 cities in India. The phone would be available with all operators including Aircel, Tata DoCoMo and Idea Cellular.
