BMW launches new 5 series models in India

BMW India on Wednesday unveiled its new 5 series models priced at Rs36.9 lakh. The new BMW 520d, produced from completely knocked down kits, will roll out of the company's unit in Chennai and will be available in a range of ten paint finishes.
Individual upholstery designs in Dakota leather will be available in black, vento, beige, cinnamon brown/black and oyster/oyster dark, the company said.
According to the company, the vehicle would deliver 18.4 km per litre as per tests conducted by the Automotive Research Association of India. The new BMW 520d is powered by a two-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine and comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The model would be available at all dealerships of the country, BMW India said in a statement.
"The 5-series is the core model in our product portfolio. The new BMW 5 Series sedan, since its launch in April 2010, has successfully emerged as a leader in the luxury sedan segment in India," BMW India president Andreas Schaaf said.
The engine, which delivers a maximum output of 184 hp, reaches 0-100 km per hour in 8.1 seconds, according to the company.
The new BMW 520d would be available in alpine white, black sapphire, cashmere silver, deep sea blue, havanna, milano beige, space grey, titanium silver, imperial blue brilliant effect and sophisto grey brilliant effect, according to the company's statement.
