BMW to recall 91,800 Mini Coopers over faulty air bag sensor

German auto maker BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke AG ) is recalling 91,800 Mini Coopers to replace a defective sensor that may prevent the air bag on the front passenger side of the cars from deploying in a crash.
The problem affects the 2005 to 2008 models of the Mini Cooper and Cooper S.
BMW said the air bag might not work properly because a vehicle's mat detection system might be prevented from sensing a passenger sitting in the front seat.
BMW informed the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it has received a report of one minor injury linked to the defect.
The Bavaria-based car maker will replace the detection mat in the affected models for free.
