State-run telecom service provider BSNL today said it has made adequate arrangements to ensure uninterrupted telecom services to its customers even as a strike by a section of executives belonging to the cadres of junior telecom officers and junior accounts officers entered the second day today.

Control rooms have been set up in BSNL corporate office, New Delhi and at state and district levels to constantly monitor the situation, a government release said.

The indefinite strike by more than 10,000 BSNL engineers demanding wage revision entered the second day today, even as over two lakh non-executive employees of the telecom firm joined them in boycotting work.

"A section of executives of BSNL, recruited after formation of BSNL in year 2000, are on strike from 18 August in support of their demands related to increased wages and career progression, and also including demand for absorption of group 'A' officers in BSNL," the release said.

"Out of about 55,000 executives of BSNL, 2400 executives are unauthorizedly absent from their duties since 18 August 2009," the release added.

The management, however, has refused to hold talks with any of the associations of engineers or non-executive employees saying a solution has been provided to the employees and it is for them to decide now.
