The Central Bureau of Investigation yedsterday asked for the special court's permission to quiz Satyam Computers' former chairman B Ramalinga Raju through video conferencing. The special court is trying Raju in the Rs78-billion Satyam Computer scam.

In its petition the investigating agency said it wanted to examine Raju through video-conferencing as he is not able to depose before the court due to ill health. The agency offered to foot the bill for the expenses involved.

The hearing on the request has been adjourned to 30April as the additional chief metropolitan magistrate BVLN Chakravarti, said the court needed time to consider the matter.

The 55-year-old former Satyam chief is suffering from hepatitis-C and is under treatment at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad.

Raju had confessed to inflation of company profits and is in judicial custody but has not been attending court since September 2009 due to reasons of health.

Meanwhile, NIMS on Friday submitted a report to the court on Raju's health condition with copies of daily case sheets and medical tests conducted on him since 31 March.
