Chrysler recalls nearly 46,000 Ram 1500 pick-ups over software problem

US carmaker Chrysler Group is recalling 45,961 Ram 1500 trucks over a problem with the vehicles' stability control system.
Detroit-based Chrysler said that the trucks were built between 26 June 2012, and 5 February 2013.
The trucks have an error in the 'electronic stability control' (ESC), which can disable the system on starting. The problem affects only four-wheel-drive models.
The US safety regulator National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that with the ESC system being disabled, the risk of a crash is more likely.
ESC helps vehicles stay upright and maintain the right direction even if the driver swerves or loses control.
Chrysler launched an investigating into the problem after receiving some complaints but said no accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of this error.
Chrysler said, and added that its dealers will fix the problem with a reflash of the trucks' computers free of charge to customers.
This is the second time Chrysler is recalling the Ram's 1500 truck in recent months. Last month, the carmaker recalled about 30,000 of the vehicles to fix a faulty warning light in the dashboard.
