Cognizant inaugurates development centre in Mumbai

Cognizant Technology Solutions, has opened a development centre in, Mumbai. Says Lakshmi Narayanan, president and CEO, Cognizant, "Mumbai is a strategic development center for Cognizant, similar to the ones that we have in Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Coimbatore."
"This centre will strengthen our ability to provide increasing value to our pharmaceutical and financial services customers, tapping into the rich talent pool available here in those industries,
he adds.
Currently, Cognizant has approximately 100 professionals in the new Mumbai development centre, servicing global pharmaceutical customers. Cognizant's Mumbai office is capable of housing 750 professionals.
R Chandrasekaran, managing director, Cognizant said "We have started our operations in Mumbai with a core team of senior professionals from within Cognizant to drive the growth of our Mumbai center and to ensure that our unique cultural DNA, that of relentless customer focus, business and technology integrated solutions and employee orientation is preserved."

Cognizant is included in the NASDAQ-100 Index.
Cognizant's revenue for the second quarter in 2005 was $211.7 million.
