Coir products to be sold in IOC outlets
29 Oct 2007
Kochi: State owned oil company Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and the Coir Board have together come up with an innovative scheme for the promotion and marketing of coir products, through select Indian Oil Corporation outlets.
Coming under the domestic market development initiative of the Coir Board, this scheme will see quality coir products displayed at selected outlets of the IOC, after being attractively packaged.
Customers will be able to buy coir mats and other products from the Coir Board’s product portfolio, and place orders with the IOC outlets. The scheme will be extended nationally in a phase manner.
The retail innovation will be formally inaugurated by A C Jose, Chairman, Coir Board, on October 31.
The Coir Board is emphasising the development of the market for coir products domestically in India, along side promotions for the export market. According to Jose, coir products to be marketed through the IOC outlets will be sourced from small-scale producers, and distributed to IOC’s outlets by the Board.
The
initiative is widely expected to give a substantial boost to the domestic market
for coir products, and providing small-scale coir manufacturers with an assured,
stable market.
